Here at Cornerstone Chiropractic in Everett, we would like to help you relieve your lower back pain naturally. Our chiropractor has devised three exercises that can help you strengthen your core and back muscles and reduce your back pain.
Wall Squats
The wall squat helps strengthen your quads and gluts, which helps support your spine. It squat is great for individuals with knee problems. You should stand with your feet 12 to 18” from the wall. They should be far enough away from the wall that when you squat down against the wall, your upper and lower legs should be at a 90 degree angle. Once you are in position, slide down the wall until you are in a sitting position. Count to five before sliding back up the wall. This exercise should be performed a minimum of five times. The wall squat is great for individuals with knee problems.
Leg and Arm Raises
Arm and leg raises are performed on the floor on a mat. Lay on your stomach on the mat and stretch your arms and legs straight out. Raise one arm and the opposite leg. Hold for five seconds before lowering. Raise the opposite arm and leg and hold for another five seconds. This completes one repetition. Perform this exercise at least five times.
Leg Swings
Leg swings are performed in a standing position. This exercise helps strengthen the gluts and lower back muscles. Place a chair in front of you and lightly grip the back for balance. Swing one leg out behind you and hold for five seconds before switching to the opposite leg. Perform this exercise five to 10 times.
