Everett Sports Injury Chiropractic Care
Stuck on the sidelines because of a sports injury? You don’t have to be a professional athlete to benefit from professional care! While following the “RICE” (rest, ice, compression, elevation) treatment method is a beneficial technique for immediately addressing a sports injury, it’s not a long-term treatment solution. Whether your pain is due to tennis elbow, runner’s knee, tendonitis or another repetitive motion injury, chiropractic care can help. Our Everett chiropractors Dr. Lichfield is trained to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal injuries, including repetitive motion injuries, back injuries, sprains and strains.
Faster, Safer Recovery After Sports Injuries
Chiropractic care for sports injuries can help manage pain without the need for prescription painkillers while supporting the body’s natural healing process. Our whole body approach to injury rehabilitation integrates chiropractic care with corrective exercises and physiotherapy. We find that this comprehensive approach to pain management and rehabilitation not only improves healing times, but also lowers the risk for re-injury and improves long-term athletic performance. By reducing pain and inflammation and decreasing muscle soreness, chiropractic care for sports injuries helps to maintain flexibility and range of motion.
Our whole body approach to sports injury treatment means we focus on the underlying injury rather than just managing the pain symptoms. We do not believe in the use of painkillers or invasive procedures. While over-the-counter painkillers and prescription painkillers can both provide some relief, these drugs work by masking the symptoms of pain. Once the drugs wear off, the pain symptoms will return. Worse, by masking the symptoms of pain, it is possible for patients to “feel better” than they truly are and thus aggravate their injuries by being overly active before the body is fully healed. A whole body approach is different. We treat the underlying injury and provide important lifestyle advice to help you prevent future injuries.
Our Everett chiropractors Dr. Lichfield treat all types of musculoskeletal sports injuries, including the following:
- Achilles Tendinitis
- Back and Neck Pain and Injuries
- Golf Injuries
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Runners Knee
- Shin Splints
- Shoulder Injuries
- Strains and Sprains
- Tennis Elbow/Golfers Elbow
Many of these injuries are due to repetitive motions. Repetitive motion injuries are different from a sudden sprain or strain due to an accidental fall. Instead, repetitive motion injuries occur slowly over time due in part to incorrect movement while performing a sport. For example, an incorrect swing while play tennis or golf can strain the tendons and ligaments in the elbow. Over time, this strain leads to inflammation and pain. In addition to tennis and golfer’s elbow, common tendonitis injuries include runner’s knee, plantar fasciitis and frozen shoulder. Chiropractic care treats these injuries by not only relieving the underlying inflammation, but also giving our patients the tools to correct the underlying mechanical movement that triggered the injury in the first place. Corrective care exercises reduce the risk for future injury and pain.
